Multifocal Display System for Near-Eye Device and Optimal Decomposition Algorithm for Video Contents

In this paper, we discuss the technology for providing stereoscopic images in AR/VR/MR devices. In order to implement virtual reality through wearable devices, it is very important to provide a realistic stereoscopic effect. This is because when the virtual reality is provided as a flat image or binocular parallax, humans feel dizzy due to the VAC(Vergence and Accommodation Conflict) problem. To solve this problem, we simultaneously developed HW technology that can provide multifocal images and SW technology for optimal decomposition algorithm for video contents. Through this paper, we share the results of these technology development and discuss of future technology developments.
