Joonhyung Kim, PhD
Master(VP of Technoloogy)
Samsung Display
Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea
Dr. Joonhyung Kim is a master(Vice President of Technology) of Samsung Display. He is developing display module process and material. He also developed quantum dot materials and inks for QD-OLED displays.
After completing his bachelor's and master's degrees at Seoul National University, Dr. Kim received a doctorate in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1999 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University before working in the industry.
Much of his 25-year career in the industry is in the development of display materials. In the early days, he conducted photoresist research on LCDs and later devoted himself to developing materials for inkjet ink. He pioneered the development of inkjet color filters for LCDs and developed and commercialized bezel ink for WOLEDs and thin film encapsulation ink for OLEDs. He participated in the development of QD ink materials and inkjet processes for QD-OLED, and conducted EL-QD research. Recently, he is reading display module materials, processes, and design research.
