Tom Piehn, Director of North American Operations for Emberion OY.

I have been with Emberion since 2023, managing Emberion's North American operations which include distribution, sales, and marketing. I further serve in an advisory role to Emberion’s product and technical operations in Espoo Finland and Cambridge, UK.

Prior to Emberion I was with Lynred France (formerly Sofradir) for seven years. Lynred is one of the world’s largest provider of Infrared detectors. I served as head of North American space and National defense business development and program manager. I then transitioned to Lynred USA as head of Canadian and Western US sales and client management.

Prior to Lynred I was with Teledyne Imaging Sensors (formerly Rockwell Scientific) as a Senior Program Manager in national defense and space programs. I also managed the Teledyne ground-based astronomy product line, a line of Infrared sensors based upon the detectors currently used in the Jame Webb Space Telescope.

Prior to Teledyne I was in the consumer digital imaging sector. Transitioning the photographic world from film-based photography to digital imaging and advancing the proliferation of affordable digital cameras. At the same time, I led one of the teams advancing the concept of personal video conferencing starting with personal computer-based communications which then evolved into today’s mobile hand-held video communications tools.

Prior to consumer digital imaging I was involved in Infrared technologies for military and defense applications.

I graduated from The University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana) with a BSME and then obtained my masters degree in Engineering from Loyola Marymount University supplemented with additional graduate studies at UCLA, USC, local colleges, and the Defense Systems Management College. I then obtained a PMP credential from the University of California Santa Barbara.

I speak English and intermediate French, which I study daily. I am an avid cyclist.
